Adobe Photoshop

This course provides an introduction to working with images and working with color, layers, and photographs. A student will learn how to use the selection tools and the basic image manipulation tools in Adobe Photoshop 7.0. At then end of the course, the students will the basics in working with color, layers, and filters. They will be able to modify and retouch photographs using creative visual techniques. Audiences can consist of graphic designers, artists, photographers, and Web developers that are involved in re-touching photographs, manipulating images, and creating original artwork. The audience may also be involved in creating graphics for the Web. No formal prerequisites are stated for this curriculum. Previous graphics design experience would be beneficial.

Adobe Premiere

Adobe Premiere 6.5 is a professional digital video editing application ideal for aspiring producers as well as video professionals. This hands-on computer workshop will introduce you to digital video imaging and non-linear video editing with Adobe Premiere. It provides native DV support allowing easy transfer to a computer, excellent editing tools and one-step output to any of the leading web streaming video formats or to any type of medium. The course include lessons on complete high-end tasks like three point editing, slip and slide, and key frame audio and video filters. At the end of the course, students can choose from a variety of transitions including spins and wipes to enhance their movie projects. At the end of the workshop, students will be able to assemble their own mini video presentation for class viewing.

Macromedia Flash

Macromedia Flash is the solution for producing and delivering high-impact vector based animation, presentations, and Web sites. Web developers use Flash to create beautiful, scaleable and extremely small and compact navigation interfaces, technical illustrations, long form animation, and other dazzling effects for websites and other web enabled devices. Flash graphics and animation are vector based which can be created using Macromedia Freehand or Adobe Illustrator. Flash also enhances and support bitmap images from Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia Fireworks. Flash can import audio files and converts them to MP3 that can be easily synchronized with animation. At the end of the course, the students will be able to create their own web-based animation.

Alias/ Wavefront MAYA

Maya is an industry-standard 3D software that created box-office hits such as Toy Story, The Antz and Final Fantasy. This hands-on course introduces the Maya 3D animation environment to the student. With an emphasis on strong fundamental animation skills, participants learn key frame animation and manipulation of animation curves. Short projects include a logo animation, walk cycle, facial animation and bouncing ball. Methods of previewing and rendering animations are covered, and participants set up hierarchical models and animate them using forward and inverse kinematics. Also covered briefly are space warps, dynamics and particle systems.

Macromedia Director

Director is the authoring environment of choice for the majority of multimedia and web developers. This hands-on course teaches participants how to create interactive CD-Rom multimedia presentations incorporating sound, image and text using Director's animation and presentation tools. A short introduction to Lingo, Director's scripting language, is also provided in this course. The students will be able to learn how to create interactive kiosks, computer-based trainings (CBT) and computer-assisted trainings (CAI).

Macromedia Dreamweaver

Macromedia Dreamweaver is a professional HTML editor for designing, coding, and developing websites, web pages, and web applications. Whether you enjoy the control of hand-coding HTML or prefer to work in a visual editing environment, Dreamweaver provides you with helpful tools to enhance your web creation experience. At the end of the course, the students will be able to create their own personal web sites, design web pages using tables, use templates and libraries, test and deploy their web pages, and add interactive elements and graphics in totality.

Adobe AfterEffects

Adobe AfterEffects is the tool to use for video graphics, special effects, and 2D animation where digital video is concerned. And because mini-DV cams are becoming so popular these days, AfterEffects is undoubtedly the Photoshop of the video designer's toolset. It's also a useful tool for web designers of the present, because it can be used to create some great gif animations and Quicktime movies. It can also be used to create simple 2D animations and titles. At the high end, AfterEffects is used as a compositing and special effects application by major motion picture and television studios. At then end of the course, the students will be able to create animated compositions from simple transformations using Keyframes, Effects, Masks, and Track Mattes, to more advanced concepts covering Photoshop and Illustrator integration, 3D Layers, Lights, Multiple Cameras, Expressions, Parenting, and Compositing.

Basic Photography

Basic Photography is a hands-on workshop which covers all the fundamentals of photography and is a good starting point for people who want to pursue specialized photography, like wedding, advertising, and studio portraiture. At the end of the course, the students will be able to learn the elements of composition, camera's basic parts and their functions, different types of lighting environments, different types of films and how to develop the creative eye.
