THAT CRITICAL SPIRIT

THREE.WITNESSES_ ERIE.PA SATURDAY_ 51-0728, E-20 That's three witnesses, John speaking, God speaking for Him, and He speaking for Himself, three witnesses that He was sent of God to fulfill the works of God. And now, He is the same today. And it's written that in this day, the things that we now see and hear, were to be here. And it's all to fulfill what the Lord has said. All Scriptures is given by inspiration. And it's the fulfillment must come quickly as the time draws near.
Who would've thought, a few years ago, your great grandfather, when he met his neighbor, and he said, "You know, it's written in the Bible that there's going to be a time when the horseless carriages will jostle through the broadway; they'll rage; they'll run like lightning."
Why, maybe his critical neighbor said, "Well, John has just a little bit off at his mind. He's read too much in the Bible."
But his grandchildren are riding in one of those things tonight. See, when God speaks, it's forever--it's forever settled in heaven. Then that's got to come to pass. And now, Jesus came, and His healing was to fulfill the ministry of Elijah and all the prophets from the foundation of the world. He was the fulfillment of that. The law and prophets were until John, since then the Kingdom of heaven.

WORD.BECAME.FLESH.INDIA.TRIP_ JEFF.IN V-26 N-5 SUNDAY_ 54-1003M, 131 Now, I pray that You'll help me. Take the critical spirit from Thy servant, Lord. God, I don't want to... If the men are wrong, You be the Judge, Lord. Let me just love anyhow, will You, Father? If the women misdress, and misuse themselves, and become prostitutes, and our nation sinks, how can I change history when You've spoke it, Lord? But I pray that You'll just help me, and let me be loving and kind, that I can be Your servant and do Your will. These things I ask, Father, for Your glory.
Now bless us. And as I've been asked to teach the Word, a little. Father, just give us a little short message now, that the Word may go forth, that it'll be a great day for us. We ask it in Jesus' Name. Amen.

159 I'm not going to ask you how many made the consecration, but I believe many of you did. And myself, I did in my heart. "Lord, take that critical spirit from me."
Now, I don't criticize people out to their face, but in my heart I do. I see a lady walking down the street, especially that, and see she's not dressed proper. I say, "Isn't that awful?" In my heart, I don't say it to nobody else. After all, that's her business. She's a free moral agent. She ain't got no right to do it; Christ bought her life; but maybe she doesn't understand.
So it's not for me to criticize. Let God do that. When I'm in the pulpit, I'll preach the Gospel the best way I know how, and the rest of it I'll commit to God. The Lord bless you, friends.

E-27 So He didn't clown with His gifts and powers. They hit Him on the head and said, "Now, tell us who--who hit you." Then when He was on the cross, He could save others and still the raging of the sea. And here with a raging fever on Him, and Him dying, the blood coming out of Him, and the Jews said, "Now, if you be the Son of God, show us a miracle. Do something for us. Come down off the cross, and we will believe you to be the Son of God. We'll believe you if you'll come off the cross."
See, that critical spirit, how that God, how He just let those things happen so. "That it fools the wise and prudent and will reveal it to babes, such as will learn." You've got to forget all you ever know, and let yourself be submissive to the Spirit of God, then God can going to teach you.

BLIND.BARTIMAEUS_ PHOENIX.AZ FRIDAY_ 57-0301, E-18 And as blind Bartimaeus sitting by this gate, and blind, poor, afflicted man, no hope, but he was thinking the right kind of thoughts. Well, I can imagine as I see him, say "Oh, if I only could know that that same great Captain was standing out there at a hundred yards now, I could raise my voice, and He would hear me, and He would heal me."
And just about the time that he was thinking like that, little children begin to run by. And here come a noise along, people saying one thing and another. Some of them hollered, "Hosanna!"
The others hollered, "Say, you that raised the dead, you that raised Lazarus from the dead..."
And blind Bartimaeus' ears caught that. That was the sound of a priest. "Say, you holy-roller, you that raised Lazarus from the dead, we got a whole graveyard full of them up here. Come up and raise some of ours."
That's the same mock and scoff, that they give Him today. That old critical spirit don't die. It will sometime. But it's still alive tonight and can work through men. "Come and raise these from the dead, up here. We'll believe you." How could He do anything in a mess like that? They were in different opinions.
After while I can hear him say, "Who is it that's passing by?" And he couldn't get no consideration. No one seemed to want to help him.
And then we hear another one speak up and say, "This is that fanatic that's going around healing the people." That struck fire.

REPROACH.FOR.THE.WORD_ JEFF.IN V-2 N-16 SUNDAY_ 62-1223, 22-3 Now, I must hurry. Now--now, they might have said, "Father of Nations, we heard you twenty-five years ago say you was going to have a child by Sarah, and--and out of that was going to come nations of people. Just how many children do you have at this time, Father of Nations?" See, see? That's that same old critical spirit that would criticize. What did Abraham? Said, "He staggered not at the promise of unbelief."
"Why, here you prayed for so-and-so, and they didn't get well." That doesn't matter. If I prayed for ten thousand tonight, and ten thousand die in the morning, tomorrow night I'd still anoint the sick and praying for them. God said so: doesn't stop it a bit. God promised it; I believe it. Certainly. Don't make any difference what they say.
Still--but they'll scoff. That's the reproach of the Word. Abraham standing on God's Word--finally It was fulfilled. Oh, my.

I.WAS.NOT.DISOBEDIENT.TO.THE.HEAVENLY.VISION_ ZION.IL MONDAY_ 49-0718, E-9 I tell you to the best of my knowledge. And anyone that ought to know that a man that's as unequipped and uneducated, I have nothing I could present to the people. No education, I'm not a preacher; I have not even a personality to give to the people. And to see that since it's been spoke of, that it's swayed out into every nation under the heavens. Will be three years, the seventh of May. Therefore, it shows that there's some supernatural power moving with that works. And each night, I believe if the person just did not want to be critical, would see that there is something besides human effort taking place at the platform.
And I leave that entirely to the audience to judge. Now, if you do not understand those things, I--I would not criticize it. If you--if you'd criticize it... I--I'd rather be silent. If I really...?... didn't even believe it but seeing some supernatural moving, I would rather just keep silent and keep my record clear with the Almighty, wouldn't you?

And the little girl's got the doctor's statements, and so forth like that, and published it. And then they examined it, and now it's even went to "We The People." GOD.REVEALING.HIMSELF.TO.HIS.PEOPLE_ CLEVELAND.OH SUNDAY_ 50-0813E, E-10 Many people seen it. Even some people that belong to different churches, like Roman Catholic, and so forth, was converted and believed with all their heart.
And they shot the picture. And when the man that taken the picture... Very critical, said I was a hypnotizer... Made an awful write-up in the paper, just scandaled it every way. And said, "Why, he's a hypnotizer. He gets those people hypnotized, and they just go away like that."
And when he begin to develop those pictures, he pulled out the six of Mister Best. And every one of them was blank, perfectly blank. And when he taken this one out, that halo appeared on there. He almost went into a heart attack. He didn't know what had happened. He tried to get me out of the Rice Hotel. 'Course, you realize why, they had to... They couldn't do that.

TESTIMONY_ CLEVELAND.OH MONDAY_ 50-0814, E-23 Yes, sir, brother. You have trouble with arthritis, is what bothers you. Isn't that right? See the way you get around. I want you just to look this way, and be just as sincere as you can...?... Life hasn't been a flower bed of ease for you, has it, brother? Had lots of sorrow, lots of trouble. You're in trouble right now, brother. Isn't that right?
At one time, you wouldn't have come in this prayer line...?... you was an unbeliever once, very much critical of religion. Isn't that right? You done a great thing along that time, too, something that hurt you. I believe you--you rebuked God, or cursed with God, or something, or done something wrong, or didn't you do that? How would you think, brother, by the Spirit of God. Is that a tract concerning it? All right.

ATTITUDE.AND.WHO.IS.GOD?_ CLEVELAND.OH TUESDAY_ 50-0815, E-31 When you get out of here and some critical doctor... All doctors won't be that narrow minded. But if some critical doctor tells you you're not healed, and so forth, and don't believe in that. You just go right on, and do what God told you to do. Don't you listen to none of it. Go to another doctor if you want to see a doctor, that'll serve God--serve God.

LOOKING.TO.THE.UNSEEN_ CLEVELAND.OH WEDNESDAY_ 50-0816, E-32 And the same time, her critical mother... Georgie was crying and praying because her mother had treated me the way she had. And so she went out in the kitchen and she knelt down to pray. She said, "O God," said, "that reprobate that's come through the country here, called Branham," said, "He's got my child all stirred up in there," and said, "poor little thing laying there dying. And today," said, "she just cried, and her little eyes are red." Said, "He's got her all stirred up about a lot of psychology." Said, "O God, put a curse on that man, or do something," like that, going on, said, "Oh..." praying.
And when she begin to pray, she thought her daughter, which lived next door, was passing by. She seen the shadow on the wall. And she let... (Get her testimony concerning... when you write to her.) She said as clear as she ever seen in her life, come Jesus, walking right down across that wall. He come through it. "Touch not My anointed."
Said, "Who's that a coming?" And he looked, and said she seen me coming. This same Bible, I had over my heart, like that. Said she seen my hair, thinning in the front. She said, "Well, that's that preacher." And she jumped up. She said, "O God, please. Was I in a trance, or what's happening? I'm losing my mind."
And she run into the room, said, "Georgie, you know what?"

SECOND.MIRACLE_ ERIE.PA SUNDAY_ 51-0729E, E-60 Now, how many in here wants to be prayed for, anywhere in the building, just raise your hands? My, there's some five or six, maybe five hundred, six hundred. I don't know; I see them out in the rows too, outside.
Now, remember this, friend, now, I can't be responsible for critics. If anything happens to a critic, I'm not responsible. Any--all--all hear that, raise your hand, so I... See, I am not responsible for anything that happens to critical people, criticizing. Because remember, when demon powers come from one, they find a place to go. And they'll go anywhere that they can go. Now, I...
How many is going to witness when some of them says, "Well, that Divine healer." You're going to take up and say, "Brother Branham said he was not a Divine healer." You going to do that for me? And remember that there's only one Divine Healer, and that is Almighty God. Even Jesus Christ is not a Divine healer. He said, "It's not Me that doeth the works; it's My Father that dwelleth in Me; He doeth the works." Is that right?

HEALING.LINE_ CHICAGO.IL MONDAY_ 53-0907E, E-17 The disciples, when they seen Jesus doing His work, as He does tonight, he said, "We know now that no man needs to teach You for by this we believe that Thou art the Christ, the Son of God." Do you believe tonight He is the Christ, the Son of God? Now, be real reverent. And would you come.
Now, don't move, friends, because these demons that leave the people, go from one to another. Any Bible student knows that. And you're subject to them. And if you're a critic, I would certainly be in prayer. Because if you only knew how many times that hundreds of people set right in the meeting, take epilepsy, cancer, setting there critical. You see? When the evil spirit leaves a believer, it'll hunt a body somewhere; it's got to happen it. So be reverent now, and love the Lord with all your heart.
