CRUEL TESTING

COMMUNION_ JEFF.IN ER 21-34 THURSDAY_ 57-0418

29 Now, if God did not spare His Own Son from the cruel testing, then He will not spare you or I from the cruel testing. And Jesus was here confronting the greatest test that He had ever had. Gethsemane laid just before Him, where that once and final all-sufficient test must come, when the burdens of the entire world laid upon His blessed shoulders. There was no one in all heavens or earth could ever stood it but Him. And to know that all of the sins, of past sins, and present sins, and future sins, rested upon this decision. And it was one of the most greatest victories that Christ ever won or proved His great Messiahship, as when He said to God, "Not My will; Thine be done." That was the greatest victory He had ever won. All the demons of torment was around to tempt Him and try Him.

And when we get right with God, when our hearts become pure and the Holy Spirit has taken Its place in our heart, it's the most glorious thing to have testing. The Bible tells us that our testings and trials are more precious to us than silver and gold of this world. So we are--should be thankful.

FOR.HIM.WILL.I.ACCEPT_ HAMMOND.IN FRIDAY_ 52-0718

E-20 Satan said, "Oh, yes," said, "you got him hedged up. You're blessing him, and giving him everything You can--You could give him." Said, "Sure, he will serve You like that." Said, "Let me have him, and I will make him curse You to Your face."

"Now," he said, "he's at your hand. I will break the hedge, but don't you take his life."

And Satan done everything but take his life. He took his children; he broke him out with boils; he spoiled all of his goods; he made him a pauper; and he set on an ash heap, back there, in the back yard, I suppose, with a piece of crockery, or something, scraping the boils that was on his body. His wife walked to the door and said, "Oh, Job, you--you look so miserable, why don't you curse God and just die?"

He said, "Woman, thou speakest like a foolish woman." He said, "The Lord gave; the Lord taken away; blessed be the Name of the Lord."

VICTORY.DAY_ SIERRA.VISTA.AZ SUNDAY_ 63-0421, E-65 When it looks like everything's gone wrong, God's giving you a trial. He's got confidence in you. He don't have to baby you around. You're not a hotbed plant, a hybrid. You're a real Christian. God's giving you a test, see what you'll do about it. Amen.

No wonder Peter said, "These fiery trials, why, count it a joy. It's--it's more precious to you than gold." And many times we hum and haw, "Oh, well. If I just..." Well, that--well, that's something God give you to overcome. He--He--He knows you'll do it. He's--He's--He's put his trust in you.

VICTORY.DAY_ SIERRA.VISTA.AZ SUNDAY_ 63-0421, E-96 Bless this stranger in our gate. Bless the visitor, Lord. We pray that You'll be with them. And if they have never received this complete victory, to where they can say "Amen" to every Word that God speaks, then, Lord, may their faith this morning that they have in You, punctuate every Word with a "Amen." Grant it, Lord. Bless us together. Deliver the sick, and the afflicted. Get glory to Thyself.

And dear God, may we not fret now after this, and remember that these trials and things comes upon us are only done because God loves us. He gives it to us to, because He's got confidence in us. He believes that we'll--that we have faith, and love for Him, that we'll be able to overcome. He'll see to it. And may we not fret and--and stew about it. May we just walk up there, and speak the Word, and walk forward. The seas will open. The V-days will come. Grant it, Lord. And may this be one of the greatest V-days of our time. Bless us until we meet together again, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

BEGINNING.ENDING.GENTILE.DISPENSATION_ JEFF.IN SUNDAY_ 55-0109E, E-10 Daniel had burnt all the bridges behind him. He wasn't planning on going back anymore. He wasn't watching his back trail; he was looking... Forsaking those things which were in the past, he pressed on to the mark of the high calling. That's what we should be doing. That's what the Church should be doing.

And as I notice then, God permitted Satan to give him a test. And, oh, they tested them by the fire. They tested him also by the lion's den. And every instance God brought them out more than victorious. "Many are the testings of the righteous: but God delivereth them out of them all." How marvelous that is. How we appreciate that, trials, tribulations, tests, all working for the good. After while God can see then, and He can put His trust in you, and then He will do great things for you.

SPOKEN.WORD.ORIGINAL.SEED_ JEFF.IN V-3 N-1 SUNDAY_ 62-0318M, 60-1 Now, others will go by and say, "Well, you know what, I believe I'll try it a while." You'll choke. That's right. See? But when you really empty out, say, "Lord Jesus, no more of me, but You from this on," (See?) then it's going to bring forth a hundredfold. You believe that? I believe it too. Well, it's with liberty and justice for all. That's right. Yes, sir. I pledge my allegiance to my Lord (See?) to preach His Word and to stand on His Truth if it costs my life. I'll still go on just the same.

For I would... it would be a great thing for me, not wanting to do it, but if I had to do it, will mingle my blood in this earth like those who mingled their blood for the same thing, like those who died in the pits of the lions; like those who died on the crosses; those who were sawed asunder, that was kicked out of their organizations and wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, and was destitute. It would be a great privilege for me as the disciples of Christ return back and it count it all joy because they were able to stand the reproach that was brought on His Name. They could suffer that for Him, their little suffering. I don't want to suffer; nobody wants to suffer. I would like to join my hands with all the denominations, say, "Brethren, let's go." I'd like to do that. If I do, I take my hand out of His. Far be it from me ever doing that. If I stand alone, I stand with Him and His Word.

JAMES 1:2

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

JAMES 1:3

3 Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

JAMES 1:4

4 But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

COMMUNION_ JEFF.IN ER 21-34 THURSDAY_ 57-0418

25 Now, this great hour had approached our Lord; one of the most trying times of all of His earthly journey was just at hand: testing time. Jesus had to go through testings, just as we go through testings. And the Bible said that every son that cometh to God, must first be tested, trained, corrected.

Now, many people, it is a showdown when the testing time comes. It's a time of a proving place. And the Bible said if we cannot stand the testing, then we become illegitimate children; we are professing God to be our Father, and then He is not our Father. For if we have correctly, and with all of our heart, received the Lord Jesus as our personal Saviour, there is nothing in this earth or in all dark eternity can--can ever separate us from the love of God that's in Christ Jesus.

REMEMBERING.THE.LORD_ PHOENIX.AZ TUESDAY_ 63-0122

E-29 What if Abraham would've thought that he ought to take Sodom. It never would've happened right. But Abraham took the way the Lord led him, his one promise he had to hold to.

Elijah could remember when he had done all he could do. He--he had rebuked all the--the women of that day that tried to fashion after the first lady, the president's wife, and--and all those things that he--he had rebuked, and--and they called him an old... I guess just an old, simple sort of a fellow, and he went... But done exactly what God told him to do.

And then it come to a showdown where he said, "Let's see which of these things are right. Now, you call the prophets of--of Baalim up here. And you call his prophets, and let me call on the Lord." Oh, what a showdown, when he knowed His Word had promised it.

JESUS.CAME.AND.CALLED_ TULARE.CA V-22 N-11 THURSDAY_ 64-0213, 92 Let's look at some more, where the dark hours come. There was a man one time named Job, one of the oldest prophets in the Bible. He was a great man. He'd--he'd loved the Lord. And he done all he knowed how to do. And Satan desired to sift him. So he said to God one day, "Yeah..." God said to him, rather, "Where have you been, Satan?"

"Oh, walking to-and-fro and up-and-down on the earth."

Said, "Have you considered My servant Job? There's none like him in the earth. He's a perfect man."

"Oh," he said, "sure. You give him everything, do everything for him. And certainly, he's a great man. But let me have him one time. I'll change the tune. I'll make him curse you to your face."

He said, "You can't do it." That's His confidence in a believer. Why? He's infinite; He's eternal. He knows the end from the beginning. He knowed Satan couldn't do it, for He is the Word. He knowed what Job would do.

COMMUNION_ JEFF.IN ER 21-34 THURSDAY_ 57-0418, 27 I'm astounded in this day, and have always been, when people profess to be Christians, and the first little trial comes on, they fall by the wayside. It goes to show that it was an intellectual conception of Christ. That's the reason so many doesn't hold out today, is because it's an intellectual conception. Intellectually you could believe it, but it goes further than that. To accept Christ, is to accept the Person of Christ.

CONVINCED.THEN.CONCERNED_ SHREVEPORT.LA SUNDAY_ 62-1125M, E-56 Moses, he needed to be convinced. He'd had no experience, yet he was--he was a great man. He was a warrior. He thought by that training he had... He slew the Egyptian, kicked some dirt over him, said, "I'll do it." And the first little trial comes along, "Days of miracles must be past." Out in the wilderness he went.

But one day God caught that runaway prophet. He saw a bush burning. He stare--stood and watched it awhile, it didn't burn down. Walked up close to it, said, "That's a strange bush. I wonder what kind of chemicals has been spread on those leaves, just keeps burning."

And a Voice said, "Moses, take off your shoes."

"Yes, Lord." Here he come.

COMFORTER.THE_ JEFF.IN V-15 N-5 SUNDAY_ 61-1001E

74 God help me. God help you, as Christians, never to compromise one Word of God's Word. This sacred trust was handed to the Church, and it's a glorious thing to have this Gospel, the full Gospel, to preach It without compromising anywhere. Preach It just as It's written. Live It just as It's written. What a sacred trust.

And if we ever expect this Word to ever come to pass, if we ever expect God to keep His Word, we've got to stay with It just the way God wrote It. That's the reason, if you stay with It the way God wrote It, there'll be all kinds of things happening among you; every Word will be fulfilled.

HEBREWS.CHAPTER.3_ JEFF.IN HEB SUNDAY_ 57-0901M

107-136 It said the Star went before the wise men. Nobody saw It but the wise men. It went over every observatory. They kept time by the stars. No one saw it but the wise men. It was for them to see it, and the wise men was who the Star was sent for.

And the Pillar of Fire was sent to Moses, and Moses was sent to the children of Israel. And they was supposed to follow Moses. They could see Moses, and Moses saw the Light. There they went, them, they were leading. And as they went out, they come to the Red Sea. And all they... They never see no more signs of miracles and things taking place while they were still down in the--in the old land of Egypt. But when they got out there in their journey (just converted and brought out), then the first thing you know, they got in trouble.

God loves to bring you in trouble. He loves to put trouble down and see what you'll do about it. So He just stopped up the Red Sea, and the first thing you know, marched them right out into this place, then sent Pharaoh after them. See how God likes to do it? He loves to display His power and love. He's God, and He just loves to show you Who He is. Amen. And the trouble of it is, today, people say, "Oh, them days is past." No. How can God display Himself, when you're taught such stuff as that? But God loves to manifest Himself.

HEBREWS.CHAPTER.3_ JEFF.IN HEB SUNDAY_ 57-0901M

108-139 Here come the children of Israel walking in the Light, Moses going on before them. There they was: "Come on, this is the way. God's calling; we're going out. We're going to the promised land. Oh, Hallelujah." Here they all was, shouting and jumping and having a good time, you know. And the first thing you know, they looked back and said, "Oh, what's that dust?"

One of them climbed up on a hill and said, "Oh, oh. Alas, alas. It's Pharaoh's army."

God said, "What you so scared about? Didn't you believe what I did down there? What you so worried about? Why do you make Me angry?"

When they got down there, Moses went out and interceded to God. God just opened up the Red Sea and they walked across; closed the enemy in. That's the way God does it. Don't get scared. Don't get all excited. Don't be flusterated. You provoke God.

HEBREWS.CHAPTER.3_ JEFF.IN HEB SUNDAY_ 57-0901M

110-160 What is sin? Unbelief. A little something can raise up, instead of going right to the Scripture and find out whether it's true or not, "Ah," you say, "I... Hm. I..." See? There you go ahead, "I'll just continue a Presbyterian like I am. See, I..." Go ahead. Blind. And you provoke God.

When God does anything, He expects the nation to grab it. But instead of that, "You know, oh, well, I don't know about that." See? He expects the people to get it. If you're concerned enough, set down with the Scripture, go through it and search it back and forth, and see if it happened, if it's predicted to come to pass and so forth. Then you'll get it. Amen.

PUT TO THE TEST

BEGINNING.ENDING.GENTILE.DISPENSATION_ JEFF.IN SUNDAY_ 55-0109E, E-9 Noticing then, that when these brethren were down there they were put to a test, a very beautiful example of what a true believer comes to when he really accepts the Lord Jesus as his Saviour. He's always put to the test. Satan's still in the testing business. And it only comes about to help you. It's for your good. "Every son that cometh to God must be tried, chastened, scourged;" and other words, give a little thrashing, straightening up. And if God gives us some chastisement and we can't stand it, then we become illegitimate children and not the children of God.

Now, man that's really got his faith set towards heaven, no matter what takes place here on earth, he's still got his faith set towards heaven. His friends may forsake him; his family may forsake him; his pastor may forsake him; but there's one that won't forsake him; that's God. And when your mind is made up, I like that.

GREAT.COMMISSION_ EDMONTON.AB SUNDAY_ 57-0804A

E-46, And as he thinks with his mind, he reasons. And the Bible said, "We must cast down reasoning." So if you're believing Christ in the reason realm, how can you ever take His Word when you got to cast that aside, and let that Word that you have caught with your mind, come down into your heart to a living faith. There's the faith.

"Buy of Me, gold tried in the fire," said the writer of the Revelation, God speaking through him, "the gold that's been tried and put to the test." There you are.

JEHOVAH.JIREH_ EDMONTON.AB. SATURDAY_ 57-0810

E-50 But I love this. Read it when you go home, the 22nd chapter of Genesis. The servants... He said, "You stay here, while the boy and I go yonder to worship. And the boy and I shall return."

Oh, my. Bless your heart. Oh, look at the faith he had. He had been put to the test. He had been tried. He knowed what he was talking about. He's going up to cut the throat of his son. But he said, "The boy and I shall return." Amen. When the knife in his belt that would cut his own son's throat, but Abraham said, "I received him in the figure as one from the dead. I was persuaded that God could raise him up from the dead."

God said so; go do it. God said, "By His stripes you're healed." Believe it. God said, "Whosoever call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved." Believe it. "He that heareth My Words and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath Everlasting Life, and shall never come to the judgment--passed from death unto Life." Believe it. Certainly. God said so. If you're Abraham's seed, you will believe it.

HEBREWS.CHAPTER.6.AND.7._ JEFF.IN HEB SUNDAY_ 57-0915M

258-555 And then you may impersonate the wrong thing--or impersonate the right thing, may I say. You may impersonate a Christian, but there will by-and-by come a time when the strain will be put on, then it'll show what you are. A chain is its strongest at its weakest link.

And when Christ the Son of God was put to the test, it showed what He was. Sure. When you're put to the test, it'll prove what you are. Your life always reflects what's on the inside of you. By-and-by... But be sure your sins don't find you out. And that's what we're trying to say.

QUEEN.OF.SHEBA_ WATERLOO.IA SATURDAY_ 58-0125

E-43 And if this shall be my last sermon, my word has been truth because it's been God's Word. I've been in contact directly, indirect, with over ten million people, I suppose. And around the world it's been put to the test: witch doctors and everything else. And not one has ever rose against it but what God took down. True. For there's no worry. If God promised it, God has to keep His Word.

The scientific world knows it. They got a picture back there that was taken of it. At Germany and Switzerland, in America, two or three times, hanging in Washington D. C. with a word under it like this, "The only supernatural Being that was ever scientifically photographed." The picture of It's back there. The copyright's in Washington, one hanging in the religious hall, of religious art.

POSSESSING.THE.ENEMY'S.GATES_ JEFF.IN V-11 N-6 SUNDAY_ 59-1108, 12 And Rebekah, which was to be the mother of this noted, promised, waited son, when she was called to the final test of a strange man that she had never seen before, only she seen the working of the Holy Spirit... And when her parents could not fully decide whether she should go with this stranger or not to be the wife of a man that she had never seen, she was brought to the final test. "We'll get the damsel and let her speak. We'll hear from her mouth whether she will go, yes or no."

That's the way it's brought to all the seed of God. It's got to be your mouth. God wants to hear from you.

So when she was put to the test, she never hesitated a minute. She said, "I will go." I like that. Not, "Let me make up my mind, let me study it over." She was fully persuaded. That's the people that God can use, when you're fully persuaded that God will keep His promise. Said, "I'll go."

POSSESSING.THE.ENEMY'S.GATES_ JEFF.IN V-11 N-6 SUNDAY_ 59-1108, 26 Then there were three more down there who had pledged theirself loyal to the cause, who were truly Abraham's seed, and that was Shadrach, and Meshach, and Abednego, and they were put to the test. And they said, "If you do not bow when you hear the harps a-playing and the trumpets a-sounding, if you do not bow to our religion, and get away from them things that you are--are standing for... And you're all wet anyhow. Your religion's no more than anybody else's." Don't we hear that all the time? But the--the religion of Jesus Christ is different. The power of His resurrection is different. We are a different people, a peculiar people, a royal priesthood. God makes the difference.

BALM.IN.GILEAD_ SAN.JOSE.CA TUESDAY_ 59-1124, E-26 Now, all those lambs were a shadow, or a stepping stone pointing to a time when God would bring the real Toxin down. So God never chose a guinea pig, neither did He choose anything else. But He tried the serum out on His own Son. Virgin born Son of God came down to the earth, and God gave Him the Toxin, the Toxin test.

It happened on the bank of Jordan when He was thirty years old. John bare record after he baptized Him, said, "I saw the Spirit of God descending like a Dove." And It went upon Him, and He was filled with God's Toxin. And He proved it and stood the test. He walked before s--sickness, and sickness vanished from Him. He walked before the cripples, and the cripples walked. And when He was put to the test, when they spit on Him, whipped Him at the back, riled upon Him, tried to get His temper up, He said, "I could speak to My Father, and straightway He would send Me twelve legions of Angels." But what was the matter, why didn't He do it? The Toxin was holding.

BALM.IN.GILEAD_ SAN.JOSE.CA TUESDAY_ 59-1124, E-27 He was put to the test. There He went to Calvary, mockery spit all over His face, His face bleeding where they jerked handfuls of beard out of His face, beaten, when He could have spoke one word and it would've changed the whole thing. But the Toxin held. He died. He had the sins of the world. Every sin that was ever in the world was placed upon Him. Under that burden of sin, with all the weight of sin laid upon Him, He died. He died until the sun went down in the middle of the day. He died until the stars wouldn't shine. He died till the moon wouldn't shine. He died until the earth had a nervous prostration, shook so hard with the chill until the rocks run out of the mountains. He died a death that nothing could die. The Toxin held. And when He died, His soul went to hell, because it had the sins of the world upon it. And He was in hell three days.

But on the early Easter morning, the Toxin begin to go to work. He rose on the third day, and appeared here on earth again. And He said, "Because I live, you live also." The Toxin worked with temptations. The Toxin worked in every trial. The Toxin worked in death. The Toxin worked in burial. The Toxin worked in resurrection.

INVESTMENTS_ SHREVEPORT.LA SATURDAY_ 62-1124B

E-24 Now. But you're tried, put to the test to be proven. And Noah, after the days of his preaching when he stood in the ark of his door, and gave--the--the door of his ark, rather, and gave the very last call... And God told him, "I'm through with them. Get into the safety that's been provided."

I think that's where we stand. Get into that spot of safety zone. The traffic of sin is getting terrific, but God give us a safety zone, as I was speaking of last night, the inoculation. Stay in there. Don't go to wandering. As the brother said, you can totter out of it. Better stay put. Now, don't go to wandering off on isms and dogmas. Stay with the Word. Stay with Christ. To know Him is Life. Not to know His creed, not to know His book, not to know nothing; but to know Him is Life.

HOW.CAN.I.OVERCOME_ JEFF.IN V-4 N-12 SUNDAY_ 63-0825M

76 And Daniel, a man, a prophet; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego... Daniel was the prophet, and that was the size of the church in that day, I mean, the Bride. There's lots of church, about two million of them went down there. But there was--that was the size of the overcomers. And them overcomers was put to the test. And every overcomer has to be put to the test. And when they said, "You take back what the Word said or either be throwed in the fiery furnace," they refused anything but the Word.

THREE.KINDS.OF.BELIEVERS_ JEFF.IN V-3 N-6 SUNDAY_ 63-1124E, 15-5 Job, another believer... Sometimes believers put to the test, not sometimes, every time: For every son that cometh to God must be chastened, tried, child-trained. Remember the trials, the dusty roads, the hot sun of persecution, but the loyalty of your heart beats that material to she's ready to go into the mold. God's children is made up correctly on His Word, for they are living examples, and the Word of God living through them. See? The trial comes to shake you, to put you to the very bottom, to see where you'll stand. See? Tested, tried, every son that cometh to God...

Job went through the trials and the tests: his children taken, and everything else taken. The church members come, accusing him being a secret sinner, and tried to say everything against him, but yet he wouldn't listen to any of it. He knowed he had met God's requirements. He knowed there's no need of Satan trying to tempt him. He knowed it was the devil.
