What a great bunch of confusion and a great bunch of--of nonsense that the world is indulging in today. We wonder where all this come from, especially in the church life. Being that we're a Christian, we'll deal mostly on that, of how could there be so many people with so many different ideas, so many different thoughts, so many different angles of approach to the Gospel: Everyone claiming they're perfectly right and the next fellow's wrong. When you see someone doing that, then you're pretty well on the line that... The Bible said, "He that thinks he knows something, he knows nothing that he ought to know." Now, I was just thinking of this great day, and a day of wickedness, perilous times, and men's hearts failing, all that the Scriptures spoke of... We are living to see the end time. MARK.OF.CHRIST_ LA.CA SATURDAY_ 55-0312 E-43 God got His people together. And there came a sound from heaven like a rushing mighty wind, filled all the house where they were setting. Out into the streets they went, not speaking an unknown language now; God made a preacher out of every one of them. When they went out they preached in a language that every man heard everything he said. That's right. And when they went out there preaching in every dialect, God had to do it. That was the only day He could do it. You shall... "The Gospel will be, begin going forth from Jerusalem. Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem till you're endued with power from on high." And it went forth from Jerusalem to the Jews, then to the Samaritans, and then to the Gentiles. It was the only way God could do it. Not a bunch of confusion, no, it was very different from Babylon. Babylon they couldn't understand one another. But here He straightened up Babylon, so they could understand one another. I think today is time when God ought to straighten, when men ought to let God straighten up their hearts, where they can understand one another. Amen. Amen. God, be merciful. WHAT.DOES.THOU.HERE_ JEFF.IN SUNDAY_ 59-0301E E-38 Oh, we think we have to have a lot of noise, have to have a brass band to beat, a lot of jumping up-and-down, or we ain't got a good meeting. We think everybody has to be on top the-- clapping their hands and things. We think the music has to be going at a rhythm, and everybody run up-and-down the aisle. We've had that. What good's it done? Where's it at? Where's it got us today? In a bunch of confusion, a bunch of denominations, broke up, brotherhood ruined. Certainly it has. It's been the old cankerworm, and palmerworm, and--and all kinds of bugs from back there in the beginning that Job saw--or Joel saw them. What the palmerworm has left cankerworm eat, and what the cankerworm eat the grasshopper eaten, and so forth, till we've eat them down to a stump. I said, "Mister, you're firmly off the line." I said, "What kind of a church have you got? I bet it's a big bunch of confusion. See? If you'd let them people do that how do you ever make your altar call? She's got a ministry, they all got a ministry, but you got times for your ministry (See?) that's given to." WITNESSES_ PHOENIX.AZ WEDNESDAY_ 54-0303 E-5 I always know in cities of this type, like Florida, California, Phoenix, there's always a confusion or a--or a something or another. There's so many different people comes in to those kind of places, those summer resorts or winter resorts, rather, with different ideas. And they... No matter what kind of idea they got, they got somebody that'll believe with them. And it breaks up different groups of people and denominations. And in there, usually it starts a prejudice, a feeling of indifference. And that exists in all big cities. And I know that Phoenix is not immune from those things. But to see this group of people together like this with one heart and one accord, I trust that it'll always be that way, that you'll always... If you'll remember these words that I--I leave you, as my beloved brothers and sisters and co-workers in Christ: You will have to love one another before you can love God. See? QUESTIONS.AND.ANSWERS_ JEFF.IN COD SUNDAY_ 54-0103M 72-79 Now, in this time, the end time, how that this carnal comparison, impersonations of Christianity will all mingle up into one big Babylon just like it did back there. And they were carried away into Babylon. Is that right? And the Bible said, "The Angel of the Lord called and said, 'Come out of Babylon, My people.'" Confusion, it's "I'm a Baptist. I'm a Methodist. I'm a Presbyterian," all that's just confusion. There's no salvation in it at all. Now, don't say that I'm saying the Baptist people hasn't got salvation, the Methodist people. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the church and its political power, its politics. And of politically speaking, because you're Methodist, or Baptist, or Presbyterian, or Catholic, has nothing to do with it. God don't even recognize it, and it's in Babylon today. And God's calling out a Church out of all of them, pulling out the pure in heart, making His Church. How beautiful. Then, you see, you grieve the Holy Spirit. Now, if you want to praise God for something, that's good. But when everybody's jumping, watching this, and that, and people getting up, walking around talking to one another, it's just confusion. You... Jesus couldn't even heal the people that way Hisself. Is that right? When He was here, He led them outside the city like that, and put his hands on them and prayed for them. EXPERIENCES.1_ PHOENIX.AZ SUNDAY_ 47-1207 E-34 The church has failed. See? Instead of bringing the people together as one body, it separated them out. Just like Moses, instead of speaking to the rock, he smote the rock (You see?), and it failed. So the church will never take the people over Jordan. That's right. But now, God has changed His order, and He's sending back... You who mark my word, there's great men on the road to this world. That's right. There's great powers on the road to this world. And it'll be a people that'll call out a people. Remember, "Come out of her, My people." Is that right? Babylon, confusion that... And not the people now, not out of your churches, but come out of that confusion among you. You see? Come out; let's serve God with one heart and one mind and one accord. Is that right? And that would've worked all right if the woman would've believed that. That's where I think Paul got the handkerchief idea. Gehazi... Elijah knowed what he touched was blessed. So it--it wouldn't work for her, 'cause she didn't believe that. No, sir. She knowed God was in the prophet. She didn't know about the stick. So she said, "As your soul lives, I'm not going to leave you." She stayed right with him. Well, there wasn't nothing to do, put on his coat and take with her. And away they went out down through there, and got to the house, and I can just imagine seeing everybody in the yard a weeping and a wailing, that little ten, twelve year old boy laying on the bed. And I want you to notice: she took him into the prophet's chamber, good place to take him, laid him on his bed. So, old Elijah walked up in all that confusion, and commotion around. He walked in there, and walked up-and-down the floor, laid his body upon the little dead baby. It sneezed seven times, and come to life; took the baby up. A lot of times I've seen, many times, people accepting "initial evidence of speaking in tongues" as the Holy Ghost, and sometimes shake the people, or beat them and pat them, saying, "Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it." You know, repeat a word over and over, "Say it. Say it. Say it." See, it's something you're doing yourself. And--and--and it don't... It doesn't... It--it's nothing. You might get a confusion of tongues. You might get a--a lot of things and sensations. But if anything comes outside of your own personal faith, it has to be a Divine gift of God given to you. See? "And by one Spirit we're all baptized into one body." That's correct. See? The baptism of the Holy Ghost is a different act from the new birth. One is a birth; one is a baptism. One brings you Eternal Life; the other one gives you power. It gives power into Eternal Life (See?) to operate. Now, you got it? Okay, all right. SUPER.SIGN_ JEFF.IN V-15 N-7 SUNDAY_ 59-1227M 46 It was Nimrod one day, who said that he'd build a tower that would bring his people, he could show what he could achieve by his intelligence. And he was to build a tower that would go beyond the clouds, that if the wrath of God ever come, he could outsmart Him. With his scientific research, he could place the rocks and the stones in such a way that he could take the people to safety by his intelligence. But it was brought to naught by a confusion of tongues, and they couldn't even finish the tower. I believe the church has did that, just upon the thoughts, "Oh, He's with us. We don't have to have miracles, and signs, and so forth. We don't have to have Divine healing today. We don't have to have the gifts of the Spirit; they're not for this day. Oh, He's with us anyhow." But, my most precious brothers, do you realize we have found out that all of our creeds and churches, we're finding discord and confusion. Something's wrong. And we sometimes thinks He might be among our kindred. I've heard that expression many times. "My mother was a Methodist, or Baptist, or Presbyterian, or so forth." You'll never find Him like that. And sometimes you're depending on what mother had, an experience with God, to atone for you. It's got to be your own personal faith in God. You just don't find Him there. EXPERIENCES.1_ PHOENIX.AZ SUNDAY_ 47-1207 E-30 Now, to catch back to my Scripture, where I left off at. You remember Joshua, all the way through the Scriptures you bring the children of Israel, it typed down to last part. Is that right? Now, I've told you that how the children of Israel had three journeys; they did: three stages of their journey. Is that right? And the church has come to its third stage. Is that true? Remember... [Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.] back with the evidence of the new land, and that's where you people stand now. But you...?...[Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.] of the church could not believe; they got into confusion and went out into the desert again, and there the... They begin to get sick and there's where the brazen serpent, the gift that was give to the church. Is that right? To Pentecost... Look, after the Pentecostal church got broke up in so many, you full Gos... [Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.] then sickness came into your midst. LOOKING.AT.THE.UNSEEN_ LA.CA FRIDAY_ 59-0410 E-9 Now, He likened us unto sheep. A sheep is totally lost without a leader. Now, if you've ever raised sheep, you know how true that is. And if you ever went to a slaughter house... I think that's one of the most pitiful cases of animal life, to see the slaughter of sheep. The little fellow's just depending on something to lead them. And do you know what they take to lead the sheep into the slaughter? A goat. He leads the sheep right over into the slaughter pen and he goes up the aisle with them, then when it comes to the place to get killed, the goat jumps out and the sheep goes right on to his slaughter. And that's about true with human life today. The devil will lead you right into the slaughter pen if he can. He will lead you into confusion. He will let you see something that looks pretty and looks like it might be so pleasant to the eye, when the Holy Spirit is condemning it and saying not to believe it. So we should follow the leading of the Holy Spirit always. And you cannot follow the leading of the Spirit until the Spirit is in your heart to lead you. When a minister walks into a congregation of people praying in the anointing of the Spirit, you're bound to hear from heaven. That's just all. There's no way to keep from it. But if you walk into confusion, then you--you're--you're so confused, the Spirit's grieved. And... We don't want that, no. We want to come here to worship. We have lovely homes that I'm going to speak about just in a minute and so forth at home, where we visit our friends and take them. This is the house of the Lord. WHO.DO.YOU.SAY.THIS.IS?_ PHOENIX.AZ V-6 N-9 SUNDAY_ 64-1227 93 Now, seeing that people are designed to be that way... Notice, you say... I know I take a lot of time, but I don't want to keep watching that 'cause it makes me nervous. See? Politics: now we take like... Let's just take for instance, see if people's designed to be in three--three classes. Let's take politics. There's some that's red-hot for a man. And another group hates him. And another group don't know what to do about him; they don't know which, and it throws them into confusion. This man said, "Oh, he's a great man. He--he'll make us the best President." The other one said, "He's nothing but a renegade." Then the in-between said, "Now, I don't know what to do." See? See, we're designed that way. We're made up that way. That's the way human beings are. It had to be that way to fulfill God's great economy. And to make His achievement that He's going to achieve upon the earth, man had to be designed thus. One is right. The other one's wrong. And the other one's in between the two. It's always been that way. It is not a western book. But we are a western people, western ideas, western civilization. And the Bible becomes a new book when you take It in the light of the Oriental customs. They never change. They are just the same. Now, when the Holy Spirit was given a few days, forty days after this commission... For they were commanded by the Lord not to preach or do anything until first they were endued with power from on high. I think that that's much to blame today for our confusion. Is because we haven't waited for the commission of God. We have went to school and learned theology. That's all well. But theology alone won't produce what Christ said it would produce. Even the teaching of the Word and rightly set in order will not produce these signs. INVESTMENTS.THE_ BEAUMONT.TX SATURDAY_ 64-0314 E-20 The Bible said here that they were rich, said they had need of nothing. This young boy was rich, had need of nothing. "We're a fine denomination. We've got great orders built. We've got the brotherhood. We've got all this, that, or the other. We've had our creeds for the hundreds of years. We set... We have need of nothing. Don't tell us anything about it." Now, that's more of an arrogant attitude than this young fellow took. He didn't take that type of a attitude. The Bible said that Jesus looked upon him and loved him. I wonder today, if in the midst of all of our confusion and our worldliness, and yet trying to hold our Christian profession, if it isn't the love of God that constrains the ministry to stay on the field. I wonder if it isn't the same thing as here we find Him knocking at the door, trying to get in. Now, we find these things, they... All through the ages it's been this way.
