WHEN A TRUE PROPHET SPEAKS

DEUTERONOMY 18:18 [moses]
18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto
thee, and will put 'my words' in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them
'all that I shall command
him. [a] Prophet-spokesman, speaker, prophet a "prophet" is someone
who can foretell the future. The prophets of the BIBLE often made
predictions, which confirmed their authority when the predictions came
true, but changing the lives of their people was a more central part of
their mission.
DEUTERONOMY 18:19
19 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever will not hearken unto my
words which he shall speak in my name, I will require [it] of him.
DEUTERONOMY 18:20
20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which
I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of
other gods, even that prophet shall die.
[Presume]- be presumptuous, be arrogant, be rebelliously, proud-to take
upon oneself
with out permission,taking for granted,[ventureing out]
DEUTERONOMY 18:21
21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the
LORD hath not spoken?
DEUTERONOMY 18:22
22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow
not, nor come to pass, that [is] the thing which the LORD hath not
spoken, [but] the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not
be afraid of him.
AMOS 3:7
7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto
his servants the prophets.
[a] Surely- certainly without a doubt
[b] Revealeth- to uncover , to make known, show, reveal, to be uncovered
[c] Secrets- beyound general understanding ; mysterious ;something known
only to some and kept from knowledge of others,
NUMBERS 12:6
6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, [I]
the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, [and] will speak
unto him in a dream.
DEUTERONOMY 13:1
1 ¶ If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and
giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee,
saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us
serve them;

3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer
of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the
LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his
commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto

JEREMIAH 1:5
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest
forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet
unto the nations.
JEREMIAH 23:28
28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath
my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What [is] the chaff to the
wheat? saith the LORD.
JEREMIAH 28:9
9 The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet
shall come to pass, [then] shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath

JEREMIAH 28:11
11 And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus
saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years.
And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
JEREMIAH 28:12
12 Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah [the prophet], after that
Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet
Jeremiah, saying,

13 Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken
the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.
JEREMIAH 28:14
14 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke
of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have
given him the beasts of the field also.
JEREMIAH 28:15
15 Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now,
Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to
trust in a lie.
JEREMIAH 28:16
16 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the
face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught
rebellion against the LORD.
JEREMIAH 28:17 17 So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the
seventh month
