E-61 No wonder we can't have the revivals. No wonder Los Angeles, and the rest of the world, is on its road to hell. No wonder you're ripening for an atomic bomb. You little children, nestle down by the side of the cross and stay there.

The hour's at hand. I went into Bombay, India, here not long ago. I picked up a paper, said, "The sign of the earthquake is over." Two or three days before the earthquake come, all the little birds flew away from their nests in the rock walls. All the sheep and cattle that stood around the sides of the walls, they all went out in the field, and stood around holding against one another, kind of leaning like this, against one another, making shade for each other.

Why? There was an instinct. Something told them that there was an earthquake coming. The earthquake shook those walls down. If they'd have stayed in there, they would've perished. But now, after the earthquake was over, they come back to the walls again that were standing up.

E-47 Notice. When I went into India, I picked up a paper. The archbishop for the Methodist church and many of them, met us there. I picked up a paper. And had something written there in English. And it said, "It must be that the--the earthquakes are over." A few days before the earthquake come, the great earthquake... You had it here, or heard of it; it shook all of India, about two years ago. The...

India doesn't have fences like we have; they have rock fences, and great big high towers around the fences where they live. And all of the cattle stands around on the--on the west side, so that the--the sun won't get on them in the day. The little birds build their nests all in these little coves. But a day before the earthquake taken place, every little bird left and took off into the bushes. All the cattle, and the sheep, and the stock around the big walls got up and away from the walls and stood out in the middle of the field together. And the earthquake struck, and shook the walls down.

18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, [and] so great.

19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

E-64 When I went into India, here not long ago, they said, they had... said, "The... must... earthquake must be over; the birds are flying back." A day before the earthquake come, they didn't know nothing about it. But India don't have fences like we have; they have rock fences, and great big towers, and so forth. They live in rock houses. They're poor. And the birds build their nests in there, and the cattle stand around them for shade. But the day before that earthquake come, you couldn't get a cow or sheep near that fence. They all stood right out in the middle of the field. And all of the birds left their nests, and went out in the forest, and got in the trees. Why? God, the same God that took them through the ark, could take them away from them walls. He took His animals out in the field. Then when the earthquake and them walls fell, the animals was away from it.

97 Another earthquake splitting open the earth! If you want to follow out a Scripture here, notice in this 5th verse, it applies that the cleaving of the Mount of Olives is due to an earthquake, and this is confirmed by Isaiah 29:6 and Revelation 16:9. Exactly! What is it? The same prophet told of His first coming, seen His second Coming! Notice, "As in the days of the earthquake." See what the earthquakes are doing, see the predictions of them?

13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

AV -- earthquake (13)

-- tempest (1) [14]

1) a shaking, a commotion, a tempest, an earthquake

E-29 There were scoffers in that day, and there'll be scoffers in this days. And how they were pleasure crazed. You see what the world is today--pleasure crazed. He said there would be... The sea would be roaring. Look at it today: tidal waves, never heard of them before in history. Here they are breaking on the shores and killing people. Earthquakes in diverse places... I just don't have the right statistics, but I forget how much that the earthquake has come to a place where every so many hours, there's so many earthquakes all over the world. Just coming all the time, for the little shell that we live on is becoming thinner and thinner all the time.

When the ancients called Laodicea the metropolis it was looking forward to the one-world government that we are now setting up. As we think of that city being the location of a great church council we see foreshadowed the ecumenical move taking place today, wherein very soon we will see all the 'so-called' Christians come together. Indeed, the church and state, religion and politics are coming together. The tares are being bound. The wheat will soon be ready for the garner.

It was a city of earthquakes, such earthquakes as finally destroyed it. This age will end in God shaking the whole world that has gone off to make love with the old harlot. Not only will world systems crumble, but the very earth will be shaken and then renovated for the millennial reign of Christ.

And the people wondered, "What strange action this is." Two days it happened. All of a sudden a earthquake blowed the country; them walls fell in. The earthquake shot four or five different times for maybe two days. They had earthquake after earthquake. Finally the little birds begin to fly back into their nest, places that was left, the cattle come back around what walls was left. What was it? The same God that warned the birds and the animals to go into the ark for safety, shows He is the same God today. See? He warned His animals to flee and to get away from those great walls that was fixing to fall.

E-11 And we had in there the great earthquake, as you have heard; and that was my wife's first one to be into. She was just a little shaky afterwards. It was very strong, as the buildings shook, and the dust flew, and the bottles on the she... We was standing in a drugstore getting some postcards to mail home, and the bottles shook, and the chimney fell off; and the big buildings rocked together, and road split open, and part of it sunk underneath, and... It just goes to remind us that the handwriting's on the wall. There will be earthquakes in diver's places. And that one day, eight earthquakes struck that same city.

And then about ten o'clock that night, we had just got in, or ten thirty and gone to bed, and the--the lamps setting in the middle of the floor, liked to rocked over from another great heavy earthquake. Just goes to show, that eight thousand miles beneath us is nothing but burning red lava. And it was just at the time that was hear the--our aggressors across the sea saying that they have... forbidding the people to go into Scandinavia and so forth, that they'd annihilate them with atomic weapons. And we wonder what would happen if they would start dropping those bombs, and bursting those places into the earth. When it would just exactly do what God said it would do: no more water, but fire this time.

E-15 Not long ago it was my privilege to go to India, where I'd been led of the Lord. And it was striking enough, that when I got to India, they'd just had an earthquake. And I got a piece out of the paper, which is in the Christian Business Men's office tonight, or today, my--my good friend Tommy Nickels, who's going to publish it.

And it was that a strange thing begin to happen. About two days before that earthquake shook that great nation, that we carried it also over here, that there was a strange thing taken place, that all the cattle and all the little birds that had their nests and their roosting places up in the--the chimneys and in the great walls in India... They don't have too many just fences; it's big stone walls, that they pick up the rocks and make the wall. And little birds that had roosted and had their dwelling in these places, all flew away, and went out into the wilderness to stay. The cattle that hung around the walls in the evening out of the hot sun, went out and stood in the middle of the pasture.

What was it? There was not one material thing showing an earthquake. Scientist could not pick up this oncoming earthquake. But oh, may I say, "Blessed be His Name." The Creator knew it was coming, and He moved His little creatures out from around those walls, 'cause they flattened out on the ground, and would've been killed.

I KINGS 19:11

11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; [but] the LORD [was] not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the LORD [was] not in the earthquake:

I KINGS 19:12

12 And after the earthquake a fire; [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

I KINGS 19:13

13 And it was [so], when Elijah heard [it], that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, [there came] a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

E-3 And so tonight would be a good time to preach on the second coming of Christ, after the earthquake shaking like it has today. But it's just a reminder that Jesus still lives and His Word is still true. There will be earthquakes in divers places. And He still--His Word is still just as forceful and just as true as it was when He said it.

29 And the other day over in California, up in Oakland, when it was our privilege to be there in a meeting, and it was the first time that my wife had ever been in an earthquake. I was setting in the barber shop, and I... The room shook just a little. And the radio quickly announced, "A earthquake was on." Said, "They're looking for another one in about eight minutes."

And I thought, "Oh, what if this is the last one?"

E-57 And the little birds go into those crevices in the rocks and build their nests. And along the great walls in the cattle yards... The cattle, in the afternoon comes and stands around that wall to be in the shade. And they stand around that wall to fellowship together and get out of the hot sun. But a day... Listen, friends. A day before the earthquake taken place, all the little birds flew out and left their nest, and went out in the middle of the fields, and set in the bushes. And all the cattle and sheep come out from around the walls, and went out in the middle of the fields, and stood together to make shade around one another.

What told them it was coming an earthquake? The same God that led them into the ark long ago. And they stayed there for two days, until the earthquakes was over, and then they begin to come back again. They had no education; they could not read and write. But they're creatures of God who has to depend on Him.

E-82 When Billy and I flew into India just recently, they had a piece of paper... It's a bilingual country, and said, "The earthquakes must be over. The birds are returning back." Now, in India they don't have these fine woven fences like we have. They pick up rocks and make their fences, and build their houses, and most of them. And for a day or two, all the little birds that lived in these rocks flew away, and went out. They wouldn't come back to the rocks, back to their nest. And then what happened?

All the cattle that used to come in the--in the evening when the sun would be hot, and they'd stand in the shadow of these walls to keep cool, the sheep; they wouldn't do it. They got right out in the middle of the field and stood against one another.

They thought, "That's strange; what's happened to them?" And then, all at once, an earthquake swept the country. All the walls fell down. And then it was down for two or three days, the earthquakes. Then, all at once, what was left standing up, the little birds begin to come in again, come back. They said, "The earthquakes must be over."

87-4 Then, what the devil is howling about, there it's being revealed. We're in a dangerous time. Remember, the Scripture says when these things begin to happen, time is no more; she's fading away. When we see the manifestation: earthquakes--see them thousand killed the other day? Earthquakes in divers places; said, fearful sights in the skies--pillars of fire like, floating around like flying saucers. They don't know what it is. See? They don't have any idea.

19 A few days ago, down in Brother Tony's store, I was listening to a man there that said... When this earthquake taken place in Alaska, he was fishing down in what we call Stony Point, at Mexico. And he said, "The birds wouldn't feed, and the--the fish wouldn't feed. There was something wrong. And all at once the earthquake broke loose."

And the other day when that one happened over in India, or wherever it was, he said he was fishing again. And he thought, "Well, it's strange. Those fish feed about this time. There's not a roll in the water nowhere. The water's just as quiet, perfect time for the fish to feed, but they didn't feed. And all the birds that's usually out there, the gulls, picking up these fish and things, was all walking around on the bank, huddling one against another. In a few moments, the sea moss from the bottom begin to come up like that, a earthquake had happened across the other side of the earth." See, them fish knowed there was something wrong; something was fixing to happen. Those birds knew the same.

51 And when I understood that, I went; I said, "There is a Scripture about that somewhere." And I went and found it was Jesus rebuking Capernaum by the seacoast. That night I looked up the Scriptures. Come home, got the history book; and Sodom and Gomorrah was once a--a thriving city, a Gentile headquarters of the world. And you know that city by an earthquake sank into the Dead Sea. And Jesus stood, and said, "Capernaum, if Sodom would've had the works done in it that you've had done in you, it would've been standing today. But now you must be brought down to hell." And about two hundred or three hundred years after His prophecy, with all them coastal towns, every one of them still standing but Capernaum, and it lays in the bottom of the sea. A earthquake sunk it into the sea.

6 Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

MARK 13:8

8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these [are] the beginnings of sorrows.

MARK 13:9

9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

ACTS 16:26

26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

ACTS 16:27

27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

ACTS 16:28

28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast [it] into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

E-57 Now, while we're still with our heads bowed, let us pray. Blessed Saviour, the Saviour of mankind, as we have been warned today by the rocking of an earthquake... And You said there would be earthquakes in divers places, the sea a roaring, man's heart failing for fear, perplexed of time; distress between the nations. But You said the branch of the Lord that has an escape in that day will be wonderful. O God! We want to be counted worthy to be those who'll escape the judgments that's fixing to fall. Let us make haste tonight, Father, to the Ark of safety, the Lord Jesus. For in the Ark is the only grounds that man can worship God under the shed Blood. And we pray tonight that all these hands that went up, that You will receive them into Your Kingdom just now.

E-56 Listen, and be quiet now just a minute. I had the privilege of visiting India just recently, where I had my greatest meeting in number. There's approximately there, couldn't get in, around--around five hundred thousand. For the healing of a blind man, I seen so many come to Christ, it's--it's far beyond the thirty thousand of Africa.

But when I come in I picked up that newspaper, and it said the earthquakes must be over, said, because the birds are returning. I know, went to read the article; I have it in my possession right now, and it reads like this. That about a day before they had the earthquake... In India, they don't have fences out of wire like we do. Their fences are great tall fences made out of rock. Lot of their buildings are made out of stones they pick up and put together.

E-24 Another thing He said, "There'll be earthquakes in divers places." I read in your new--Phoenix newspaper yesterday, I believe it was, where hundreds times hundreds was killed. The waves will be roaring, fearful sights. Look at the tidal wave, what it done. Look in Chicago not long ago, when the bathing beauties on the beach was swept off by the big tidal wave; they never made out yet where it come from. I forget how many earthquakes are happening every hour across the world. It's on the increase all the time. Why? The old hull is getting thin. The coming of the Lord is at hand. The judgments God spoke of, He said the people would get to a place they'd fall away, gross darkness would cover the earth. When spiritual darkness gets upon the earth it's time for the enemy to attack. We're at the hour: gross darkness.

E-45 The people didn't know what was the matter. Said, "Look at the birds, by swarms, leaving the walls going away. They won't roost that night. They don't come back. They leave and don't return. The sheep won't even come around the fences; they stand out there against one another, and the cattle." That earthquake come and shook those walls down. Then the birds come back. It was a sign the earthquake was over.

Brother, the same God that could lead the sheep, and the birds to the ark in the days of the antediluvian destruction, is that same God, today, Who can... And if God can speak to a bird to flee from danger, "Get away from these big walls of Babylon of unbelief; there's coming a shaking time." The Holy Spirit showing signs and wonders of the destruction at hand.

E-39 My son and I... Recently we had visit India, and I read a piece in the paper as we got on the plane, and said, "I guess the earthquake is over." A few days before the earthquake come...

In India they just pick up the rocks and make fences, and walls, and so forth. They don't have the woven wire and the stuff that we have here. They're very poor people. Four hundred and seventy million there, and about, it looked to me, four hundred million of them beggars, and very pathetic sight. Some of the minister brethren, if you ever see them sights you--you can never feel satisfied here no more. There's something, them thousands a screaming and crying to hear the story of Jesus; and here you have to almost persuade people to come to church. But they're--they're hungering there for God.
